News of The Belles circulated quickly and immediately my interest was there. It sounded like a whirlwind of an adventure and not something I've seen before. Once I got my copy of the book from the publisher, I dove in and was immersed in a lavish world with prose as sweet as cotton candy and characters birthed from the goddess of Beauty. It's not hard to get lost in this world as Clayton does an unbelievable job of building layer after layer of backdrop, story, and characters.

Now, we turn to the plot which is engaging and also a commentary on societal norms and objectification. The focus is on women, but there a few mentions of men as well. Regardless, you're forced to face these standards as the society Clayton built is entirely about beauty, what it means, and how far you'll go to reach it - no matter the consequences.
