Don't let the cover fool you, even the most beautiful rose has thorns. . . 😉

The descriptions in the first chapter alone are positively decadent and if the writing style doesn't satisfy your appetite, the world building will.

Clayton weaves the world within The Belles with the practiced grace of a magician -- so easily does the world within The Belles come to life that, as Camellia travels through the Royal Square for the Beauté Carnaval, it feels as though you hold a personal invitation to her debut.

            It's truly spectacular.

In the first few chapters you get a sense of determination and a bit of rebelliousness from the main character, Camellia, and while The Belles is a fantasy, it touches upon many topics that are relevant to our own society. The concept of beauty and the moral questions it raises as people desperately seek the approval and acceptance of their peers is not unfamiliar territory, and the author has a way of getting you to question these societal standards through her main character, Camellia. Thus far, Camellia seems like she's going to spark some major changes and that's a character I can root for!

The cover really grabs you with its whimsical colours and ethereal flashes of light. The strong female lead displayed front and center looks fierce and determined. A Belle who is ready to break down barriers and turn an entire world upside down.

There are A LOT of qualities that make this read fun, fast-paced, and easily addictive. I quickly devoured these first few chapters and am eagerly anticipating more. I will definitely be picking this up!Â
