Vampires aren’t dead. Not in an undead versus dead kind of way, but in the publishing industry deciding that the time for vampires is sadly departed. With the success of popular vampire books and the flooding of the YA market with similar novels trying to recreate the magic, publishers decided that readers were weary and it was time to move on. Then comes The Beautiful by Renee Ahdieh. Through forbidden romance with a devilish boy, an exciting murder mystery, danger, and the marvels of the French Quarter, The Beautiful shows us that there is still so much life left to be put in the creatures of the night. And maybe, just maybe, the time for a vampire resurgence is now.

Without even reading the entirety of book one, I’m already excited for book two!
