This historical fiction from Author Renee Ahdieh swept me off my feet. It has been a long time since the YA world has seen a very well done vampire inclusive story (probably since twilight). I really loved the 1870s Southern/New Orleans setting that this author chose to create. It's full of magic, being that it's in the south and the time period is incredibly intriguing as well. The music description of the town and food all really made it very atmospheric. This story seems to be a slow burn right from the start but I absolutely adore this era, inclusion of vampires and the horror feel that I got to experience while starting this chapter sample. I am very excited to see where this will go and cannot wait to read the entire thing!
