This was a very good read, but it was not quite what I expected. It has a few major twists at the end, and characters are not who you think they are (or who you think they are supposed to be). While I won't spoil it for anyone, the ending is absolutely heartbreaking and I have no idea what will happen in The Damned, but I want to read it now.

The Beautiful follows Celine, a French girl who has just came to New Orleans after a tragedy in France. She's just trying to avoid her past, but she keeps running into this dark and mysterious (and annoying) stranger, Sebastien (love interest vibes, anyone?). Soon she gets sucked into his world, while he tries to keep her out of it.

There is also another POV, a dark creature who is hunting women, who has fixated on Celine. This character's identity will keep you guessing until the very end, but I found the reveal to be less than satisfying.

Of course, there is another love interest who hates Sebastien and has secrets of his own. So many secrets, so little time.
