I didn't realize how much I had been wanting to read a new vampire book until I won this one! Renée Ahdieh paints a dark, alluring New Orleans that draws you into its mystery.
Celine is a headstrong, complex protagonist with a past full of her own demons. Trouble seems to follow her wherever she goes. Especially once she meets Sébastien. If you are looking for a snarky, broody book boyfriend, Sébastien Saint Germain fits the bill. I love the exchanges between him and Celine, especially when he is pushing her buttons.
When I was done reading I was left hungry for beignets and wanting MORE of these characters! Odette is my hero, and I want to know everything about her past! The twist at the end was perfect. I feel as though I got enough information to be satisfied with the book, but I am also left needing the second book asap.
The cover is absolutely gorgeous and I cannot wait to get the finished copy. I already preordered it!
