I absolutely fell in love with the characters in this book. I binged it all in one sitting because I couldn't get enough of Sebastien and Celine and their interactions. Not to mention the lush setting of 1870's New Orleans made this absolutely to die for in my book. While the plot at first seemed predictable - not that I minded - the twists at the end went in the opposite direction of what I had originally anticipated which I quite enjoyed.
Perhaps my biggest issue was that this was billed to me as a vampire story - not by the blurb but by the other readers - and I found a disappointing lack of vampires throughout the main story.
That said, the forbidden romance and quite frankly everything about Sebastien, kept me enraptured until the very end and I am waiting with bated breath until the sequel The Damned comes out.
