Ahhh! I love Renée but this book did not completely live up to my expectations. Vampires in 1800’s New Orleans? I was so excited about the premise and really happy when I won a copy here on Bookish First. This book does take a very long time to really get going. The first half dragged and the mystery of the Court of Lions and who was the murderer was not enough to hook me. I’m glad I kept reading though because things did pick up and I loved the ending. No spoilers but the end gives us a major reveal and sets up what I hope will be a great book two. Side note I really love the cover too. So, all in all, I am glad I stuck with the book and the second half was definitely stronger than the first.
