I will admit, I was scared to read this book mainly because I had loved the author's other book "The Wrath and the Dawn", and didn't want this to disappoint.

It's safe to say that it definitely didn't. I read this all in one sitting, and now I can't wait to read the second book. I loved the plot, the setting, the characters, the romance. It was all there, and it was all done beautifully.

The plot- I loved it. It might be really predictable to some, and that's totally understandable, but for me, it was great. I actually did not anticipate any of the plot twists at the end, and I really loved them. I'm kinda dreading the second book to be honest, just because I don't want to see these characters hurt.
I will say, though, the paranormal aspect of the book was kind of confusing to me. I understand it to some level, but hopefully it will be explained better in the second book.

The characters - I loved every single one of them. Celine was a great protagonist, even if she was a bit annoying at times.
Bastian was also really great! and all the members of the court, in my opinion, were really well developed and fit together.
