I did enjoy this book, but it left me wishing there was a bit more to it. The story itself has major gothic vibes. Slightly reminiscent of Twilight, but don’t go into it expecting a vampire story. This was a pretty good first book to this series, and I’m interested enough to keep up with it. The story itself takes place in NOLA, which is being plagued by a Jack the Ripper style murderer. Celine, a young lady with a dark past as all young ladies have, moves from Paris to find a husband and meets a young suitor who she naturally falls for. I do have to say if you’re not familiar with French, it can get a bit tedious, but don’t let it put you off reading this one. Also, it’s pretty typical YA, but again, still quite enjoyable. She's a parisian on the run living in a Convent ( boarding house for girls /women) she's into the danger of the city, gets wrapped up into it, falls for Sébastien a vampire. There are vampires, and bloody dead bodies, and eh. It was a good enough book.
