I had expectations for this book, really. I loved “The wrath and the dawn” and vampires are one of my favorite characters to read about. Anyway all the best premises haven’t been enough.

For the first 300 pages the story unfolds boringly and with few mayor events. The style of writing is often repetitive and nothing, neither the plot nor the characters, made me fall in love with the book, as I wished.

Celine, the protagonist, isn’t really likeable and her love story has the “insta-love” trope; in few pages (and less meetings...) she encounters Sebastien and they’re so attracted to each other and fall in love, even if I couldn’t explain myself why.

The only moments when I have been hooked were those few chapters told by the villain’s point of view.

Another thing that annoyed me is that during the first half of the novel there are no vampires; quite a bit disappointing for a book about them. You can’t figure out who is who (between mortals and vampires as between heroes and villains) and maybe this is good for someone but to me, after so many pages, it was just frustrating.
