This book is, exactly like it's title, beautiful! I loved the writing style, and the story got more intriguing as it went on. "The Beautiful" is mysterious from the start, but not confusing, giving enough information to the reader to understand the scenes as they were unfolding. The time period was described often and well through details: the fashion, society standards, transportation. I found the characters to be immediately interesting, especially Celine, who's secrets are held from the reader for most of the excerpt. One of the most interesting things about how the plot unfolds is the unknown first-person perspective the reader gets a glimpse of. It was obvious that the author put a lot of planning and thinking into how the story was going to be told, and how information and secrets were going to be revealed to the reader. Overall, I loved this book so far!
