I really wanted to like this book; the plot sounded intriguing. But unfortunately, I just couldn't get into this book. Just like in her debut, I feel like I didn't get to know the characters at all. I was half way into the book and felt like nothing had happened yet. Also, this book was marketed as "the next Twilight," but there was nothing more than a hint that there were supernatural creatures wreaking havoc. There was some suspense as to why the main character was in the US, that she seemed to have a shady past, but we did not get to know anything much about her or the other characters and there was no hints to keep the reader's attention. The writing is beautiful, but it is not enough to make up for the lack of characterization and plot.
