This is my first book by this author and I devoured it! I loved the characters and the New Orleans setting.
This book follows the story of Celine, who has moved to New Orleans from Paris to live in a convent. Celine was a dressmaker in Paris and through this, she gets pulled into the Court of Lions. She meets ‘Bastian here but things are not as they appear within the La Cour des Lions. We also meet Odette, who is one of my absolute favorite characters!
As the story progresses, Celine finds herself caught between the man she “should” have and the man she’s actually attracted to. This love “triangle” is tastefully and artfully done with secrets galore by both men. Her relationship with both men are tenuous at times and there’s a slow burn between her and the love interest.
While this book is touted as paranormal fantasy/vampires, the paranormal aspect is subtle. Overall a great read!
