Hate to say it but this was a rather disappointing read for me. Did I hate it? No, it was fine, the characters were fine, the mystery was fine, the setting was fine but I expected so much more than fine out of this.
It was oftentimes confusing and felt like nothing really happened for most of the story. There were interesting pockets of action throughout and the last 50 pages or so were great and such a wild ride, but overall it left me wanting more. I especially wanted more development on the romance front bc Celine makes one joke and several people are in love with her and I joke all the time and have got nothing so I call BS???
I'm definitely going to read the sequel bc the end felt like it had set up the real storyline and I was intrigued by what I believe will come next. For an author whose work I LOVE and have reread a trillion times, I was just hoping for more out of this. ALSO, I have major questions surrounding the end/final villain reveal.
