Right away I was drawn to Celine, the main character, she is stubborn, outspoken brave, but also a pragmatist. I know that I will have no trouble at all reading an entire series with her as the main character.
I also enjoyed the setting immensely, having traveled to New Orleans recently it was wonderful recognizing the places mentioned in the book.
The murder mystery part of the book was the only downside so far. I know that as I continue the story it will become clearer, but I would have liked a bit more details and background there. I was also disappointed to not have been introduced to Sébastien Saint Germain yet, but I do understand we need to get to know Celine first.
The writing is, of course, wonderful, just the write balance of descriptive. I truly cannot wait to continue reading this book.
