Are vampires back?
I went into this book hearing that while this book is marketed as a new ya vampire book but does not really have vampires in it. I felt that this was full of vampire drama. So A+ for that. This book is also full of....wait for it....INSTA-LOVE! If you're not down with locking eyes with stranger across a room and falling deeply in love, well then this book will not be for you. Because the plot majorly revolves around this.
The Beautiful has a interesting idea that is kind of all over the place. I wish the historical element (something I was looking forward to as not enough YA is centered in historical fiction) I felt was only added so that the main character could have a heaving bosom in a tight corset, other than that the fact that the setting is 1872 really doesn't matter because the author does not take advantage of it.
Low 4 star rating for me for having vamps & twisty plots. If I receive another arc I'll continue on with this if not then it might take me some time before I pick up the next book.
