I have read all of Ahdieh’s books so when I heard she was coming out with a new one, I was stoked! Her writing was just as beautiful and magical as her previous novels. I love how she incorporates the magical and supernatural with a realistic society, as if this all truly happened in our pasts. I may be biased, but I love New Orleans and the entire idea of a magical city in the bayou. I love that this is not just a romance novel and that the characters must grow throughout the novel (and the obvious sequel) unlike similar novels which keep growth at a minimum. I’m not a fan on the love triangle trope generally but I can forgive Ahdieh for that because she write like poetry. Whatever she puts out next, you’re guaranteed to love!
