I didn’t read The Beautiful when it first came out because, like many people, I was over the hype of vampires. The Beautiful fully exceeded my expectations in being about vampires. I did really like that you didn’t fully know that the novel was about vampires right away. The writing was really intricate and built an interesting world with vampires and other demons.
I did really like the characterization of Celine and Bastien. We found out information about both of them as the story went on, which I really like. It wasn’t an information dump of everything about both of them at once.
I hadn’t read any books by Reneé Ahdieh before (though I have many on my to be read) and I can say I’ll definitely be reading more books by her. I’m excited to see where The Damned goes.
