I don't read a lot of vampire novels, but I'm cautiously optimistic about the full book! This excerpt teased out a dark and mysterious New Orleans, full of atmosphere, with a strong-willed heroine throne into the middle of it. What little we see of the main vampire promises a dark and violent character. How that will play into the almost-certain romance will make or break this book. The fact that I was disappointed when the excerpt ended bodes well for the book though!
