Just the first few pages reminded me of how unforgiving Regency England could be, especially to those who hold no power.
Lady Astrid, however, is a wonderful example of how women in that time period can be underestimated. She is educated and determined, and to save her sister from a terrible marriage arrangement, she can and will do anything, including going after another, potentially terrible marriage. As she thinks in Chapter One, "a different kind of beast."
This has potential, and I'm looking forward to reading the rest. I can already imagine the future comeuppance of her unscrupulous family members.
Also, I wonder what kind of man has earned the nickname "the Beast of Beswick". Want it!
