I do not normally read this type of book, one where romance is the primary theme, but I liked this one! I am automatically going to read any kind of Beauty and the Beast retelling, so of course I had to check this one out. Overall, I really enjoyed it. I don't read a lot of books set in this time period so it was nice to read something a little different than what I usually would. And the relationship between Astrid and Nathaniel was so captivating! I loved the angst and the buildup to love. One of my favorite things about the book was Astrid, though. She was fierce and didn't want to be confined to traditional gender roles, and yet she offered herself up for marriage so her younger sister wouldn't have to. The romance is great, but the love between sisters is just as powerful.
