I really enjoyed this book. I’ve been reading romance specifically Regency romances since I was 12 so I in know the good compared to the okay or bad.
Beast of Beswick is a regency era romance novel in which a war scarred hero turned Duke and a woman willing to do anything to protect her sister from scoundrels and bad relatives team up.

Thane feels unworthy with his massively scarred body. People whisper about him, strangers run scared, and kids cry. Astrid doesn’t care about society she cares about her family and the Duke, she’s willing to argue, provoke, and anger Thane. This is one of the better historical romances I've read this year, but, sadly, that's not saying much
The set up of the book works especially in a time where women had no rights.
However, halfway through the book the sister goes to live with the bad money hungry relatives and Astrid doesn’t really do anything. She willing to marry a man who is “beastly” and yet when the person she’s trying to protect goes off to her greedy uncle, Astrid allows it planning to see her at the mall. I also felt at times the repetition of the fact Astrid is the beauty and Thane the beast was excessive. He’s referred to as a beast so many times. Like we get it he’s scarred from war. I would have liked to see more discussion on how his looks prior to the war to now affected his psyche.

I think in some ways the author struggled to keep the story going. There were things that just didn’t make sense. The push pull between Astrid and Thane was okay but I could have been better. Other reviewers have pointed them out but the daughter of a Viscount is not a lady but an honorable.

Will I read the sister’s book. Yes, because I would like to see how that story unfolds. I believe the author provided she does more research could possibly become a great Regency writer.
