Beauty and the Beast is one of my favorite princess books from Disney and being able to read a twist to one of my favorites growing up is just awesome! This is definitely one of the best Beauty and the Beast twists that I have ever read. Amalie Howard did not disappoint and I can not wait to read book two in the series. Thane is a war hero that was left badly scared and terrifies the whole town by his looks and defensive growls. He spends his days in hiding and destroying his father's porcelain. Beautiful Lady Astrid faced a horrible scandal from Beaumont that disgraces her name and now she discovers that her money hungry uncle and aunt want to sell off her sister to the same Lord Beaumont that put her to shame. She decides to do the unthinkable and offer herself in a marriage contract with the Beast of Beswick as many call him. She is the only one that was able to see past his scars, but he still pushes her away. Eventually she has no choice except to ruin back to Thane and ask for more help and to work for him to help sell all of his porcelain in an auction. Thane ultimately agrees and begins the battle of fighting his feelings for Lady Astrid and the self doubt that he has that he deserves no one and Astrid is too beautiful to be seen with such an ugly beast. Astrid falls in love and the two end up getting married in order to save her sister. Astrid is a very strong willed woman who is the perfect match for Thane as he needs her smart wits to be able to deal with him and put him into his place from time to time. The ending is such a beautiful love story that triumphs so much heartache from each others pasts and Astrid and the Beast of Beswick bring out the best of each other.
