This was such a fun story and I loved the characters that I got to get to know as the story progressed. When going into a story like this -- a "bodice ripper"/historical romance, I tend to have low standards for the story, the language, the plot, and the content. This was a surprisingly delightful and had so many more threads of feminism that I really enjoyed. I think I will read the sequel because it sounds even more compelling than this one.
I really loved the feminist qualities of this story. The characters really complemented each other, however, Thane managed to get on my nerves more than one time. He was just so hard-headed and sometimes too chivalrous for his own good. I'm not sure if that makes any sense, but he was just a royal butt for a bit there.
Overall, this was a pretty enjoyable read and I plan on checking out the sequel.
