First things first, I think the cover is excellent. It immediately gave me a sense of curiosity and impending danger and made me interested in reading the book.
The first impression was very good. I liked the internal thoughts of the characters and the actual dialogue. I'm interested in the characters and would like to see what happens to them. I like that they are flawed, but trying.
I have some concern that it may end up being a bit wordy, as it clocks in at 464 pages on Goodreads. I'm wondering if we will be reading a lot of minutia and daily activity before really getting to the meat of the story. Fortunately, I enjoy stories with a lot of dialogue, like this one has, so I'm still finding the story entertaining and would like to read more.
