The cover for The Babysitter screams nosy neighbor or “who’s out there?” The colors are a little harsh, but it gives you an idea of what the book is about. The first look was good. It starts in the past the night Jamie’s sister, Emma, is attacked while having taken over her babysitting duties. Then it hops to the less than stellar future where Jamie has a teen daughter of her own and is called back to her hometown. I feel like a lot of potential clues were dropped in the past portion, but I also get the vibe that this will be one of those suspense thrillers that you can’t solve as you read. The answers won’t be what we’ve been lead to believe, but that’s just my impression. Would I pick this one up on my own, probably not, but now that I’ve read the first look I’m somewhat intrigued.
