When you read a book in one day and only just a couple of sittings.....

The Art of Escaping by Erin Callahan is a YA Contemporary LGBT Fiction read...and one of the few of it's kind that I have read. I enjoy getting to know a genre and it's a bonus when it is a mature and well read one.

A story with a message: Find your passion. Do what you love..what drives you..and do it well no matter what anyone thinks. Surround yourself with people that want to see you succeed in that passion. Embrace your weird...whatever that weird may be...and maybe it's not even as weird as you may think. A story about friendships...and having the right people in your life. Another strong message: Coming out. Being who you are and being who you are out in the open. You can't hide forever and think that it's a life well lived. The messages in this book are great. The fact that this is not your typical young romance coming of age read is refreshing. The characters in this book from Mattie, Stella, Will, Frankie and Miyu...are witty and entertaining and well written.

Escapeology...what a strange hobby/passion/talent to have. What a strange idea for a book. Unique and entertaining...certainly something that pulled me in...I was intrigued. Again....A little romance...but nothing cringy at all. Actually quite charming and beautiful.

This is overall a delightful and unique read. Easily a book that can't be put down so easily.
