I got lost in the pages of this book. The varying perspectives provided interesting insights. I know little about this place, so the differences in culture on top of family drama and politics provided a reading experience that kept me turning pages too late into the night. The writing is lush and layered. The epic story created a lot of intrigue, and the characters are well-drawn, and I am going to miss some of them, as they became my family and friends. The story made me think about secrets and how they impact all of us. How might our lives be different if family secrets had not been kept? If all of us were in on the truth? I like complex, complicated storylines that slowly reveal themselves.
The cover art looks simple, almost childlike, but it is enchanting and also drew me to the story and the book. The color choices are stunning. The tree and house against the night sky!
