Suspenseful mystery with a suprise romance
Healey's The Animals at Lockwood Manor was not what I expected at all. I say that in the best of ways. Expecting only a mystery to evolve in more of a Nancy Drew type of way I was pleasantly suprised with the unexpected romance that evolved within the manor.
Healey has a wonderful cast of characters that are written in a way that allowed me to relate each fictional person to someone I've encountered in my own life. Her descriptions help bring to life a truly one of a kind manor with all the inhabitants inside.
What I enjoyed most were the alternate perspectives of Hetty and Lucy telling different parts of the story. One focused on the museum and the other on the past and current going ons of the home.
I highly recommend this mystery and hope to see more from Jane Healey soon!
