I thought this book had a lot going for it and I really enjoyed the how the narration was split between the two main characters. If I had to describe the feel of this book I would say soft but dark and lurking.

I really loved the slow burn romance. It was what kept me reading. There were a few parts of it wear I felt like nothing had happened in while and I was a little bored.

If I’m being completely honest I wanted it to be scarier. I left the book still feeling like I had a lot of questions. Was the manor really haunted? If not then who was putting the handprints up and why?

I thought the setting was very original and I would have never thought about that. I loved how you could kinda feel what they were feeling the waiting for the war to actually start and then again waiting for it to end and feeling of being powerless to stop or start it.

Overall I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to people interested in a darker historical read or a lgbtq romance.
