It is with disappointment and sadness that I shift this book over to my abandoned books shelf. I was very excited about the haunting premise but could not get into the extremely slow burn story. It was overly descriptive, in my opinion, with extremely long sentences that needed some editing. It is certainly a beautiful book, aesthetically speaking, and perhaps I would have found a story worth savoring if I could have willed myself to continue. Unfortunately, I do not have that kind of patience and I proved to not be the right reader for this one.
A positive worth sharing is that Jane Healey gathered so many clever ideas to incorporate into this story. For the right person, this may prove to be a gem of a novel.
