I've read other books by North, and I really enjoyed them, but this one missed the mark for me. Overall, I found the book quite confusing with the timelines, characters, and plot. I had to reread things on more than one occasion, which is very frustrating (especially when you have a massive TBR pile). I almost felt the need to take notes on it (which is something I refuse to do if it's not a book I'm working on, using for a workshop, etc)! There was at least one unexpected twist, but it, too, left me a bit confused. This might have benefitted from a pared-down character list or a tighter edit. I did like Katie, but her husband was extremely annoying. Once I reached the end, I had a number of unanswered questions. Perhaps I missed something or maybe there will be a sequel. I'm not sure that I care enough to go back through the book or read a follow-up if one should occur.
