This book was delightfully suspenseful and twisty. I was intrigued from the very first page, drawn in by the descriptors and how the characters were so rich from the beginning. Katie was the character I was most drawn to - she is refreshingly relatable and flawed, compared to a lot of characters that authors are writing these days. Beyond the characters, I think the thing that I liked the most was pulling together two storylines that seem separate at first, but really aren't as you go along.

Even if you don't classify yourself as a mystery or suspense reader, I recommend you give this book a go! I think it is a lot more generally appealing than one would think at first glance.

I had never read an Alex North book before, but from what I understand, this type of suspense is what he does best. If The Angel Maker is any indication of what he can do, I will be reading his books for many years to come.
