I am a lover of mysteries and thrillers, and I am familiar with the name Alex North but hadn't yet read anything by him - that will change going forward! Midway through I was worried this one had a little too much going on, but ultimately I ended up really enjoying this.

This one probably wouldn't be for everyone - it's definitely dark (although not particularly gory, it does involve a serial killer of children). It also has an element of the supernatural to it - it reminded me a bit of C. J. Tudor's writing style where there is always an element of the supernatural but it is more hinted at than overt. Definitely not for everyone, but I really enjoyed it.

I did think it was a little bit over complicated in some ways - there were a lot of threads, a lot of plot lines, a lot of perspectives to follow. I don't always love shifting perspectives and thought this one had a few too many, but I still enjoyed it. Ultimately I was happy to see all of the plot lines converge in a way that I found effective.
