This review is incredibly hard to write because I really don’t know what to say or maybe how to articulate my thoughts. I rated the first two books of his, five stars so I really expected to love this book and I felt really disappointed. I think this one was lacking in many ways I think that he is a brilliant writer. he is definitely very talented but this book to me felt like having a bunch of puzzle pieces that either you can’t see what’s on the puzzle piece or you’re just in a pitch black room trying to fit these pieces together and it’s just almost impossible. you have a lot of suspense and mystery but it’s really hard to piece it together and it really frustrated me because I wanted to be able to puzzle it together as I’m reading and I just felt kind of in the dark the entire time.

I just felt like he tried very hard for it to be so mysterious that it left you more in the dark than necessary. I think it was well written and well plotted just wasn’t a huge fan of the execution. You also have to suspend belief for this one. It’s heavy in philosophy so if you like that, this is for you.

I found it hard to keep up at times with multiple pov and timelines as well. Sometimes jumping in the middle of chapters. Not entirely hard to follow. Just hard to remember everything and keep up with constant time changes and characters. Characters who used more than one name, i would get confused on who was who. Just a bit convoluted. There’s just a lot going on that eventually comes together. Just maybe a bit too much going on. I also wanted more on the serial killer aspect.

With all of that said, i think it does make you want to keep turning the pages wanting to know what is going on here.

I feel like it’s easier to point out what i didn’t like than what i did. But i did mostly like this one. Every chapter end had a little cliff or hook that made you want to go into the next chapter.

Overall it’s a 3-3 1/2 star read for me. I’m going to round up tho.
