This was such a delightfully queer fantasy, and I was very here for it. I also enjoyed that it was set after everything. We don't get enough books that are about what happens after the chosen ones do the thing, and this was a great exploration of it.
I've read one other book by E. K. Johnston, That Inevitable Victorian Thing, which I unfortunately didn't enjoy so much, though that may be largely due to the fact that I got pneumonia in the middle of reading it and so wasn't able to keep the book up while I was reading it. This was a much better reading experience, and I'd absolutely recommend this to anyone who wants to read a wonderful diverse, especially queer fantasy. Also, I wasn't a big fan of this book cover originally, but it's definitely growing on me.
