I love fantasy but don't usually find myself reading high fantasy books but this book was better than expected. I was intrigued by the first look and was glad to obtain a copy of my own, especially because there was so much girl power in that first look. AND the book is f/f romance!!
There is SO MUCH packed into this book. The characters are diverse, like REALLY diverse, and learning about them kept me interested. I would have liked to get to know the other characters a bit more, though. I thoroughly enjoyed the flashback chapters, too.
This is my first taste of high-fantasy as well as F/F romance (I don't read romance at all). I was overly impressed with this book. I think the only bit I didn't care for was the cover. Bad covers usually turn me away from high-fantasy reads, but the first look made me reconsider. I'm glad I did.
