This was a very interesting book! I haven't read the book that this book pays a homage to by David Eddings, or any book by him, but I didn't feel like I really lost anything from it. I was drawn into this story right away and got lost in it. I found the premise and the story line highly entertaining.
I did have a problem with the structural layout of this book. I found it very confusing and difficult to follow. Switching from before to after wasn't too bad, that happens quite a bit in books, but then when it switched from first to third person, and alternating who we are reading through those "eyes", got very confusing. Once that happened, it was quite difficult to follow what was going on in the story.
