I really like Johnston's writing, so I've been eager to get my hands on this book from the moment I first heard about it and it definitely did not disappoint! BAMF queer lady knights in a high fantasy setting? YES PLEASE.
I was really intrigued by the idea that this book is about what happens AFTER the Big Quest, not about the Big Quest itself. I love me some "Band of Heroes Gotta Go Save the World" stories, but I really liked the focus on the idea that just because the heroes saved the world doesn't mean that all of their troubles are over. Or that the world will stay saved. Heroes gotta keep on hero-ing.
