Dual narrative fantasy with some sweeping feminism. Starts off with a bang with a quest to take out an old god with the power that's been infused into an emerald with the combined powers of seven new godlings. Two of the individuals on the quest are now leading very different lives and the the dual narrations of these two are also being told over before and after timelines. It seems like this could get a little confusing, but so far the first look has done a good job keeping it clear. There is some weird and unnecessary gendering going on that I really don't understand. Once the women knights are "knighted" they become "Sirs" this n that. I don't understand why they can't just be called Lady this n that. Not a big deal but since this book seems to be a female empowerment book why the weird neuterization back to "sir" especially since it's fantasy and world building? Should have just stuck with Lady. Or just "Knight." Sir seems superfluous.
