The Seven and a Half Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle (which, for some strange reason, has a different title in the U.K.: The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle) is an incredible murder mystery. Imagine Groundhog Day, add a sprinkle of Agatha Christie, a dash of Edge of Tomorrow (another work with a different international name: Live Die Repeat), and you have a concoction that is both incredibly original and an homage to classic mystery novels and time loop films. One of my pet peeves when it comes to mystery novels is when the author does not give the reader enough details to suss out the murderer before the big reveal. However, in this case, Stuart Turton has armed the reader with a wealth of details about the suspects, their backgrounds, and their possible motivations. Great debut novel, highly recommended
