What to say about The 7 1/2 Deaths Of Evelyn Hardcastle? If you like a good mystery, read this book. If you enjoy one that is well written in it’s many twists and turns, read this book. If you do not mind and may even relish a side of magical realism, be sure to read this book.
As you begin the story it appears that there may have been a murder on the grounds of a run down country estate that is peopled by a group of guests invited to a party in honor of the daughter of the house. The author has kindly begun his book with a listing of the names of guests and household members that I did have several occasions to refer to. That was very helpful. From that starting point with the initial, perhaps unreliable character, reporting what he saw and heard the story takes off through four hundred plus fascinating pages.
