"The 7 1/2 Death of Evelyn Hardcastle" was probably my favorite book of 2018. Looking back on reading it the first time, I definitely found it to be a rather enjoyable, but slow read. I still do, but I think I've come to appreciate that aspect of the plot. It definitely doesn't hurt the overall story to be a bit more of a slow burn.

This book doesn't have an original premise. It's a book about a time loop and, to be honest, it does that aspect rather well. I found myself liking it more than I usually like stuff involving time loops. The characters are well done, the mystery was intriguing, and the overall story was well plotted and executed. It's cleverly done and wasn't as predictable as I usually find mystery books to be.
