Complex, riveting and impossible to put down, Stuart Turton’s debut novel The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle will have you ferociously flipping through pages to try and uncover the truth.

It’s hard to give a review to a story like this without any spoilers, but I’ll do my best. The mystery at the center is reminiscent of an Agatha Christie, but with an almost sci-fi/magical twist. It’s like Blake Crouch’s take on Groundhog Day, if that is helpful at all. Full of shifting characters and plenty of deception, it’s difficult to track who’s involved in what without frantically scribbling on whatever the closest paper product is to you. Give this one a go, it’s as engaging and entertaining as you could hope for.
