A totally unique read
Wow! This book was like nothing I’ve ever read before and was not anything like I expected. In the simplest terms, I would say it was a combination between Clue and Groundhog Day, but I reality it was so much more. If I am being honest, I was hesitant about starting this one because it just seemed so daunting and I thought due to the complicated storyline it would take forever to read. In reality I.could.not.put.it.down. It’s difficult to believe this was Stuart’s first novel because it was so well written and just so complex. I am not sure how he managed to keep track of everything. There were many times throughout the story I actually had to re-read what I read again to really get it. I also had to refer back to the invitation at the beginning to keep track of the the characters because at times Aidan would fall asleep in one character and wake as another only to end up back in that “host” again.
19 years ago, Thomas Hardcastle was murdered. Now his parents have invited all the same people back for another party only this time another Hardcastle is going to die. Aidan Bishop is tasked with trying to solve the Murder. However, every time he wakes, he wakes as a different guest at the party. Soon, against his will and better judgment he realizes the only way to escape Blackhealth is to solve her murder. Things are complicated by the fact that there’s someone out to kill off each one of his hosts one by one and he soon finds out there are others beside himself with the same goal. It’s a complex web of lies, deception, and murder that will keep you on your toes until the very end!
