I have a soft spot for strong female characters in literature and I simply could not get enough of Lynda La Plante's character of Jane Tennison in "Tennison." The thriller and mystery genre is so saturated with masculine characters and stereotyped personalities that it is very refreshing to read through Plante's original narrative and precise voice that guides us through Tennison's London and the 'police beat.'

Plante makes Tennison a very related character as a woman who feels a bit insecure in a 'man's world' but this attribution also makes her stand out more as a character due to the fact that Tennison still embraces herself and makes the best out of her circumstances, determined to stand her ground in a 'male dominated' zone.

An excellent read overall!
