Jane Tennison is that protagonist you know you're going to love right out of the gate. She is honest, naive, inquisitive and eager to do her best for the Hackney Police. But she's down to earth as well, trying her hardest and always seeming to come up short, leaving her to deal with admonishments from her higher-ups in the department which are not quite justified. The first 19 pages offered by BookishFirst were just enough to let me know I'd like to read a lot more about Jane and certainly get to know her better!
