Initially, the first page of this book turned me off with its past tense and a lot of telling instead of showing, but as things started happening, I got used to the writing style. You can't help but root for Jane as she strives to excel as a police officer despite the gender inequality of the times. I'm very curious about where the case goes.
I like that the cover is very colorful - and yet, part of that color is blood so it definitely conveys that this is a book about murder.
