Corie, a former special agent with the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force, is now married to a judge, mother to her adopted 14-year old daughter, and working freelance in the publishing industry. You get the feeling that Corie is bored with her comfortable suburban life. She starts attending a weekly luncheon with other self-employed individuals, and feels something is off with one of the members, Pete Delaney. Pete is non-descript, seemingly leading a quiet life working in packaging design and volunteering at the soup kitchen. As Corie begins to investigate Pete, you begin to wonder if she is really onto something or if her need for excitement is skewing reality. The investigation portion of the book went on for way too long; the story really picked up for me when the "big thing" happened...what I had been waiting for all along. Admittedly, I didn't expect it, but unfortunately it didn't redeem the book enough for me to think anything other than it was an ok read.

I received an advanced copy of this book in a Bookish First giveaway; all opinions are my own.
